The Mad Scientist in the Basement

As mentioned in previous posts, I have decided to illustrate a number of poems and short stories I've written. Many are from my childhood and others are fantastic takes on real life people and events in my life. "The Mad Scientist in the Basement" is a comical take on a man engrossed with his work/inventions/hobbies and the little kids who like to spy on him. :)

Hope you like it.

Hello readers,

This is a work-in-progress for a future project (slated to be finished end of February). Not sure if I'm going to use this illustration or another one for my first children's book, but I'm excited to share.

Materials: Soft colored pastels, Tombow markers, and Prismalcolor Pencils on 80lb Blick Studio Drawing paper.

Illustrations for upcoming book (or two)

Dear readers,

I have been working on a couple of ideas for children's books these past couple of years and it isn't until now that I've had time to work on bringing these ideas to life. I am working on stories about my childhood with my siblings and our backyard adventures amongst others. Below are a few concept drawings of the three main characters in my stories. As I progress in my Illustration class at Otis (and finally have book dummies and edited stories to share) I will post more of my art and excerpts from my stories on my blog.

Thanks for stopping by and taking a look. Please share this site with others.

Storyboarding

Dear Readers,

I am on my way back to school. Although art is my greatest hobby, educating is my heart and soul. I am awaiting graduate acceptance into Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles for School Counseling pending a phone interview next week. I'm very excited and am already preparing for a change of address.

With that, I propose a change of art subject. I will be currently working on storyboarding a couple of ideas for children's literature. With this new venture comes the potential for selling my work (all proceeds going to my grad school fund...seeing as grants and scholarships for Grad School are limited and capped...so that I may change young students lives with the gift of knowledge).

I will be posting excerpts and illustrations from my stories ASAP.

Thanks for tuning-in and I'll keep you up to date on the creative projects to come.
